INKLING: United States Pin Map

US Map Oh the Places We'll Go - homework (2)As part of the Lifestyle Crafts Studio Team, I also get to use the We R Memory Keepers line of products. So for this month’s project, I went back to basics and created a fun paper project. To make this U.S.A. Pin Map, I really went old school and only used a pair of trimming scissors, craft knife and cutting board. No fancy tools necessary for this project.

US Map Oh the Places We'll Go - homework (1)I used paper from the Jet Set paper pack. What a fun line of paper. The U.S. map was just begging to be cut out and so I got out my trimming scissors and cut my way around the United States.

US Map Oh the Places We'll Go - homework (7)I cut out some of the fun messages like, “oh the places we’ll go” one of my favorite books.

US Map Oh the Places We'll Go - homework (6)And we need a plane to get to all those places.

US Map Oh the Places We'll Go - homework (5)I’m giving the map to my son so he can start tracking the places he’s been to. Hopefully, over the years, he’ll get to see many more states and discover the U.S. The little flags are made out of sewing pins and tape.

US Map Oh the Places We'll Go - homework (8)For now, he can dream about the different places he can visit.

US Map Oh the Places We'll Go - homework (9)This was a fun project and I’m hoping to see the board filled with little flags over the years. Oh, the places we’ll go….

  1. This is so great! We just did a summer road trip through 13 states. I was trying to think of a way to commemorate all the states we went to and keep track of future states. This is perfect!

    1. Hi Amber,
I used an 11" x 14" frame. That's why I used 1" of border paper on each side of the map. To fill in the space to reach the 14" - had to improvise!! :)
