I’ve mentioned here a few times that the teen is leaving for college soon. We only have one kid so we are going to be empty-nesters in about a week and half. When people say it goes by quickly, they ain’t kidding! When my son started high school I had just started this blog and wanted to learn to crochet. I must have mentioned it in a post because a reader sent me a crochet book.

It was such a sweet gesture and I taught myself how to make a granny square. I printed out loads of inspiration and instructions and set out to make a blanket. I figured I had four years to finish and even if I only made a few squares a night, I’d be done in plenty of time.

Fast forward 4 years and the blanket is about the size of a baby blanket. Somewhere along the way I got distracted and put it away.

I really think I can still finish it by winter. If I stick to my plan and make a few squares every night I could have it wrapped up and under the tree when he returns home for the holidays. The problem is, I don’t remember how to make a granny square. I’m going to have relearn and hope I can pull it off.

I still have all the yarn. I’m not sure it’s enough but I can always get more.

Do you have unfinished projects in your closet? I think I have some unfinished needlepoint from the ‘80’s somewhere in mine. But I’m determined to finish this blanket. Wish me luck!!
Thank you so much for stopping by.
P.S.
