Inkling: paper clip & junk mail bracelet

Paper Clip and Junk Mail Bracelet via homework | carolynshomework.comMaking a paperclip chain or bracelet has been around for probably as long as paperclips. I saw a fun paperclip bracelet here that took the paperclip chain to a new level by wrapping paper around each clip to form paper beads.

Paper Clip and Junk Mail Bracelet via homework | carolynshomework.comI’ve been wanting to use up some of my security envelope stash for awhile. The insides of security or junk mail envelopes have such pretty designs and are perfect for a project like this.

This project is super simple and would be fun to make with younger kids. Simply clip your paper clips together to the desired length or your bracelet. Add a clasp. You don’t even need pliers – just slip the clasp onto the last paperclip. Cut you paper into strips that are narrower than the paperclip. I chose to cut strips that are angled and get narrower at the other end. Starting with the wide end wrap the paper around each clip. You can use glue stick, craft glue or Mod Podge like I did.

Paper Clip and Junk Mail Bracelet via homework | carolynshomework.comWould you believe these were once the inside of junk mail and bill envelopes?

Paper Clip and Junk Mail Bracelet via homework | carolynshomework.comI can’t wait to make more of these. If you want colorful bracelets use magazine pages or scraps of crafting paper. I’m going to keep using up my junk mail envelope stash. Making one bracelet barely made a dent in my stash – and I’m I want to wear several of these bracelets stacked together.

Happy Recycling and thanks for visiting!

  13. I wanted to do this with colors. So I bought the Sharpie Highlighters in a 12ct. colors of yellow, green, pink, purple, blue and orange. It gives them color, but you can still see the design through it. Very pretty.
